Oscar Nominations 2026

We are honoured to be celebrating an Oscar nomination for our work on F1, which has been recognised in the Best Visual Effects category at the 98th Academy Awards.

“It’s a huge honor to see our work recognised by our peers and on a respected global stage.  F1 is a great testament to our ability to sit at the heart of storytelling and the creative collaboration we foster with Directors and each of the departments we work with.  This collaboration is crucial for delivering stories that audiences can get truly swept up in,” says Fiona Walkinshaw, CEO of Film & Episodic at Framestore.

“We’re immensely proud of the London, Montreal and Mumbai teams behind the film and grateful to director Joseph Kosinski, who trusted us to push the boundaries of our craft.”

Framestore Best Visual Effects Nominees: F1

For F1, Framestore delivered cutting-edge visual effects that seamlessly blend real-world Formula 1 racing with high-octane cinematic storytelling. Production-side VFX Supervisor Ryan Tudhope, a longtime collaborator of director Joseph Kosinski following Top Gun: Maverick, adapted the team’s groundbreaking digital jet-replacement techniques to the world of elite motorsport.

A pivotal early proof-of-concept — replacing Lewis Hamilton’s car with a prototype APXGP vehicle during a lap at Silverstone while keeping Hamilton in-seat — proved instrumental in securing buy-in from senior F1 stakeholders and unlocking unprecedented access to live race environments. Embedded at races throughout the season, Framestore artists captured extensive reference photography under press access, effectively performing real-time photogrammetry of F1 cars. This allowed the team to build highly accurate digital doubles that could be seamlessly integrated into race footage while serving the evolving narrative.

A huge congratulations to our nominated talents and all involved. See you at the Oscars!
