40 Years of Framestore: Reframing the Possible

Forty years ago, Framestore started with a pencil, 3,000 hand-drawn frames, and a song. We set out with a simple goal: to make brilliant images, work with visionary directors, and use new technologies to solve creative problems. Today, we are a global network of seven studios and home to 3,000 storytellers.

We’ve brought dinosaurs to TV screens, inspired audiences to fall in love with a bear from deepest, darkest Peru, and helped build Harry Potter’s wizarding world. From Rocket, Lylla, Teefs, and Floor to Rocky, Pooh, Krypto and the Sheep Detectives, our animators deliver character performances with so much heart they make audiences cry. We’ve sent Sandra Bullock to space for Gravity, helped shape James Bond’s iconic title sequences and put audiences in the driving seat for F1.

And that same spirit of creativity extends far beyond traditional screens. We’ve brought the GEICO Gecko to life in real time, transported audiences to Mars and the Moon through VR, designed mind-blowing theme park rides, created advertising that invokes emotions, and built immersive experiences that transform the way people connect with stories, brands and the worlds around them.

None of this happens by accident. It happens because of the deep expertise, endless curiosity, and quiet obsession of our teams. And it happens because the most ambitious directors, brands and clients trust us to deliver their biggest ideas. Here’s to four decades of heart, craft, clever thinking, and making the impossible look completely real. And here's to the next forty!
