Nicolas Chevallier
Boasting a background studying thermodynamics and applied physics, Nicolas’ early interest in CG led him to study at the prestigious Supinfocom Valenciennes. After graduating he joined VFX studio BUF, and quickly rose up the ranks to the position of VFX Supervisor, securing early credits on The Matrix sequels, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Thor — the latter earning him a VES Award nomination.
A move to Cinesite’s Montreal studio led to a VFX Supervisor role on projects including Now You See Me 2, X-Men: Apocalypse, The Commuter, Black Sails and Alejandro Iñárritu’s The Revenant, for which he received a VES Award win. His work on Into the Woods also saw him nominated at the HPA Awards.
Nicolas joined Framestore in 2017, drawn to both the variety and quality of work the studio produces. He was part of the team on Alexander Payne’s film Downsizing, supervised the J.K. Rowling sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and led both Timmy Failure — recognised with a VES Award nomination — and Flora & Ulysses for Disney+.
His most recent project is Joseph Kosinski’s high-octane F1. As a VFX Supervisor, Nicolas was instrumental in delivering a masterclass in invisible visual effects to make the audience feel the speed without seeing the pixels. Nicolas is currently working on Heart of the Beast, an upcoming action adventure film directed by David Ayer.
