Hiccup and Toothless reunited!

How to Train Your Dragon star Mason Thames (a.k.a. Hiccup) visited our London studio to find out how we brought Berk and its dragons to life.

Mason was taken on a guided tour by Production VFX Supervisor Christian Manz, had a dragon designed for him by Senior Concept Artist Sam Rowan and tried his hand at animating Toothless with the help of Animation Supervisor Kayn Garcia.

Along the way he was reunited with Creature Puppetry Supervisor Tom Wilson, whose brilliant on-set characterisation using puppets made by Stitches and Glue ensured Toothless was a real presence for the film's cast and crew.

The tour wrapped with Senior Virtual Production Technical Director Rob Taheij and Virtual Production Supervisor Connor Ling demonstrating part of our virtual production toolkit, Farsight Go, which allowed Mason to bring Toothless into our London studio and see him soar across the London skyline.
