
Founded in 2000, the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) is a not-to-be-missed film event, enjoying national and international acclaim thanks to its prestigious and demanding programme. Focussing on fantasy and fantastic films, the festival's multidisciplinary, all-embracing approach to the fantasy tradition has enabled the festival to establish itself as an international centre of expertise and to develop an innovative discourse around cinematographies of the imaginary.
Meet the Speaker
Stuart Penn | VFX Supervisor
Stuart’s experience highlights the wide pool of expertise that Framestore draws from: he worked as a research physicist for ten years before embarking on a successful VFX career. His 10-year academic career saw him establish a new research department at London South Bank University while researching superconductors and dielectric materials.
Stuart’s technical and scientific knowledge is paired with a true artist’s eye, one that has seen him supervise shoots for the likes of Paddington 2 and The Aeronauts, as well as lead Framestore’s work on the monumental Avengers: Endgame.
Most recently, Stuart has been leading Framestore’s work on Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17 - an adaptation of Edward Ashton's science fiction novel Mickey7.

Framestore worked on many crucial scenes from Bong Joon Ho’s latest witty satire, a visually ambitious film that combines sci-fi, black humor, and horror tropes. The studio will discuss the frozen landscapes, the creepers, and the morbid death scenes of the “Expendable” that propel the narrative.
