Use this checklist to create a standout VFX showreel that highlights your best work, technical skills, and unique strengths. Make sure your reel leaves a lasting impression and effectively showcases your expertise.
Opening titles
- Name & Role (e.g. "Jane Doe, CG Animator")
- Easy-to-read / Clear opening titles
Pick Your Best Clips
- Average 45 seconds long (2 min max)
- Open with your best work
- Choose work you're proud of & fits the job role
Role-Specific Tips
- Texture: Show different lighting
- Modelling: Include wireframes
- Animation: Focus on realistic performances
- Lighting/FX: Specify your contributions
Detail & Credit
- Overlay text showing what tasks you actually did
- Show software used & collaborators
Make it Accessible
- Vimeo link (no password). MP4 version available
- Use suitable music, but don't overdo it
End Titles
- Add Email / website / socials - Check details
