Wicked: For Good in Art of VFX

VFX Supervisor Jonathan Fawkner joins Production VFX Supervisor Pablo Helman to spill the secrets of Oz in Wicked: For Good. The artists meticulously integrated practical sets with cutting-edge VFX, ensuring every frame felt "utterly real" and "infused with soul".

By fostering collaboration between FPS, the Art Department, and global VFX teams, Framestore offered an end to end service, flowing from Wicked straight into Wicked: For Good.

"We filmed Wicked, and Wicked: For Good back to back, and scenes that would appear in the second movie actually influenced what we did on the first. So we were working on Wicked: For Good from the very start," comments Fawkner. "As soon as we delivered Wicked, our attention turned to work we haven’t looked as closely at for eight months or so, and we didn’t take our foot off the gas. So, from a visual effects perspective, it never really felt like two films, and our relationship simply developed."
