CTO Lincoln Wallen on AI at Cannes

AI can mimic the syntax of a frame, but it can't capture the soul of a story.  At the TIME100 Talks in Cannes, our CTO Lincoln Wallen joined industry leaders to unpack the question: How do we keep creativity human in the age of AI?

For Lincoln, the conversation comes down to a vital distinction between syntax and semantics. While AI is an incredible tool for accelerating the technical "syntax" of language and imagery, true meaning belongs entirely to human creators.

"We’re the ones that determine what things mean... we're the ones doing the communication," Lincoln noted. "The current AI systems aren't controllable, which means they're not very good at allowing people to express what they want to do, what they want to say."
