Tim Webber
Tim joined Framestore in 1988 after an outstanding academic record in Maths, Physics and Art. He rapidly became the driving force behind the company’s push into Digital Film and Television, developing Framestore’s virtual camera and motion rig systems.
Tim has been guiding the company in new directions while supervising some of its most technically and artistically challenging projects. These include Children of Men, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, Spike Jonze’s highly original CG characters in Where the Wild Things Are, and James Cameron’s incredible Avatar.
He was Warner Brothers’ VFX Supervisor on Alfonso Cuarón’s space thriller, Gravity, for which he won a VFX BAFTA and Oscar. The groundbreaking techniques developed for the film were wholly realized by Tim and the Framestore team, including the Light Box, which was one of Time's inventions of the year.
In 2014, Tim was named in the Sunday Times' 100 Makers of the 21st Century list; was awarded the Royal Photographic Society’s Progress Medal for his work on the film; and was part of Ad Age's Creativity 50.
Having directed commercials, created AR projects for the likes of Steven Spielberg and worked as 2nd unit director on films such as Paddington, it was natural that Tim would seek further creative challenges. 2023 saw the release of his directorial debut, FLITE: an award-winning short film that combines cutting-edge technology, beautiful imagery and first-class storytelling.
