Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age
Just as our crew embarked on expeditions across six continents during production, viewers will journey through vast tundras, barren deserts, expanding grasslands, and melting permafrost. It truly is something to witness these incredible creatures battle for survival in the face of extreme climates, shifting landscapes, the onset of 'The Big Freeze,' and ultimately, 'The Big Melt.'
Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age has been an epic journey of exploration for Framestore. With Production-Side VFX Supervisor Russell Dodgson guiding the way, our Art Department, VisDev, Pre-Production (FPS), and VFX teams across London, Montreal, and Mumbai have brought to life the spectacular inhabitants and habitats of the Ice Age. From towering woolly mammoths to elusive snow sloths, and terrifying saber-toothed tigers to resilient dwarf elephants, the series reveals the epic struggles and unexpected stories of animals that once ruled this frozen world.
Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age is executive produced by Jon Favreau and Mike Gunton, and produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit and narrated by Tom Hiddleston. Framestore’s production side VFX supervisor Russell Dodgson oversaw all the visual effects and the series features a theme by Hans Zimmer, with an original score by Zimmer, Rozman and Talve for Bleeding Fingers Music.
