François Dumoulin
François entered the industry as a PA for a commercial production company in Paris. Here he cut his teeth on flame compositing, and has not looked back since.
Making the move to Montreal in 2009, François applied his visionary outlook and astute eye for image composition as client-side VFX Supervisor on sci-fi film Upside Down. He then spent a decade with Rodeo FX, supervising notable projects including The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Lucy and Tarzan.
François’ outstanding creative and technical artistry have been recognized on Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, for which he was shortlisted for an Academy Award, and Misha Green’s Lovecraft Country, which earned him multiple award nominations, including for the Emmy and VES Awards.
He was VFX Supervisor on Denis Villeneuve’s Oscar-nominated Dune and the long-awaited adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s classic graphic novel, The Sandman, before turning the world pink for Greta Gerwig’s box office smash, Barbie.
Throughout his career, François has gained extensive on-set supervision experience, including managing the second unit shoot for the blockbuster Barbie. Most recently, he supervised complex sequences in challenging locations - remote forests, caves, glaciers, and steppes - for Prehistoric Planet S3. François’ on-set supervision portfolio also includes high-profile productions such as IT Chapter 2, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Lovecraft Country. Francois is currently on-set shooting Heart of the Beast.
