Black Rabbit
For Netflix’s Black Rabbit starring Jude Law and Jason Bateman, VFX Supervisor Steve Drew led our NY team of artists as we delivered subtle, invisible visual effects that supported the drama without drawing focus. Our work included performance and continuity fixes, digital environment builds, and meticulous cleanups, all designed to keep the storytelling seamless.

In a unique setup, Netflix embedded Framestore talent directly into the production, with John Kilshaw (VFX Supervisor), Karl Coyner (On Set VFX Supervisor), and Michael Miller (VFX Producer) fulfilling studio-side roles. This integration gave us influence on-set, streamlined creative feedback, and accelerated delivery to the showrunners.
A key technical achievement was incorporating Live Grain, a tool that dynamically adjusted grain based on color and light. Our Pipeline and Systems teams developed a bespoke workflow so editorial could preview the exact graded look destined for the final DI - a Framestore first.
Across eight episodes, we rebuilt building exteriors and fire escapes, extended sets, added city lights, removed stunt pads and production equipment, enhanced blood and muzzle flashes, refined wardrobe colors and props, composited driving scenes, cleaned signage, and stabilized cameras, crafting an authentic visual world audiences could feel, but never see.
