Vision to Screen: Concept Art for Film

Framestore Concept Artist Jules Darriulat and Visualisation Supervisor Christopher McDonald will join a cast of expert speakers at this special event exploring the role of concept art in modern filmmaking.

Open to Visual Effects Society (VES) members and their guests, the evening will dig deep into how early concepts help shape a project's visual narrative.

Meet the Speakers

Chris McDonald | Visualisation Supervisor

Chris’s first feature film project was Kingsman: The Secret Service, beginning as a Previs Artist, continuing in this role throughout the shoot and moving into post-production as an Animator. This end-to-end experience offered him a comprehensive overview of the ways in which Previs and Techvis can benefit every stage of a production.

Since working in Visualisation, Chris has lent his talents to TV series such as Game of Thrones and feature films such as Black Widow, his first experience as a Visualisation Lead. Chris joined Framestore Pre-Production Services in 2020, where he took on the role of Previsualisation Supervisor on Jon M. Chu’s Wicked, as well as Visualisation Supervisor on projects for studios such as Apple, Disney, and Amazon.

Jules Darriulat | Concept Artist

A member of Framestore’s in-house art department, Jules has worked on major film and TV projects like Wednesday, The 3 Body Problem, His Dark Materials, Doctor Who and Paddington in Peru.   He continues to seek self-improvement through personal work and the Concept101 event he co-founded.
