A giant gummy monster walks through a city with hundreds of nerds candy attached to it

Gummy Monster

In the new delicious spot for NERDS candy, Digitas, Framestore's Chicago VFX teams, led by Creative Director Andy Rowan-Robinson, and Framestore Preproduction Services (FPS) brought to life a new Gummy character and updated the look of the NERDS characters - marking the first major design evolution of the Nerds mascot.

A giant red monster made out of candy in a city surrounded by hundreds of nerds characters

Our team was involved early on in the ideation process through execution, working with the agency to develop a new mascot that personified the NERDS gummy cluster candy. During the creative process, our artists explored different body shapes, expression tests and ‘gumminess’ for the gummy monster.

In addition to crafting the monster, we were tasked with bringing to life the classic NERDS mascot in 3D. Transporting the NERDS characters to the real world required a balance of staying true to the brand's roots, while evolving them in a way that felt fresh and modern.

Our team was amazing, the agency team at Digitas were fantastic and it really was as fun to work on this spot as it looks. Being able to see the project through from the earliest sketches to the final result was massively satisfying.
