Mundos Digitales 2026

Mundos Digitales is a premier international summit dedicated to the convergence of Animation, Visual Effects (VFX), and New Media. Since its inception in 2002 in A Coruña, Spain, it has grown into the Spanish-speaking world’s most significant industry event, serving as a high-tech crossroads where global talent, cutting-edge studios, and tech innovators gather to redefine the boundaries of digital storytelling.

Superman: 4DGS Holograms

Superman utilizes the latest advancements in radiance field technologies to create Holographic visual effects by capturing volumetric data of actor performances. The innovative technique was used for the first time ever in a feature film to create an unstable, holographic message from Superman's Kryptonian parents; a core story point that required significant emotional impact.

Gaussian Splatting is an explicit, point-based radiance field that utilizes millions of tiny, anisotropic shapes to model light and volume. The addition of Actors requires 4D Gaussian Splats to train 11.000 images per second to form a unique cloud of points into photorealistic performances.

Presented by the Computer Graphic Supervisor from Framestore, Kevin Sears will explore the goals and approach to this implementation in the film. A full timeline, from concept to final film will show the close collaboration with Infinite Realities and Framestore studios in creating this unique process to capture and visualize this pioneering effect!

Beyond the Hype: Integrating AI into Real-World VFX Pipelines

Artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly in the field of visual effects, but there is a clear difference between what we see in demos and what is actually feasible in production. This talk is based on an original mini-sequence where AI tools and traditional techniques are combined to achieve a result that neither could achieve on its own.

Based on this case study, a technical breakdown focused on the process is presented: how these results are built within a real pipeline, what kind of control is possible today, how creative iteration is managed, and what the current limits of the technology are.

Beyond the “how,” the talk addresses the relationship between traditional VFX and these new tools: what changes, what remains the same, and how both approaches coexist in production. The goal is to offer a clear, practical, and hype-free view of AI’s current role in the industry and how it is redefining the artist’s role within the pipeline.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

Kevin Sears | CG Supervisor

Kevin Sears is a veteran CG Supervisor with nearly two decades of experience at the forefront of visual effects. A graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, Kevin’s career is defined by a mastery of look development, lighting, and environment building. His technical leadership was recognized early on with a VES Award nomination for Outstanding Created Environment for his work in Tron: Legacy.

Throughout his career, Kevin has held senior leadership roles at industry-leading studios, including Digital Domain, Method Studios, and Framestore. His extensive credit list features some of the largest franchises in cinema history, including Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Star Trek (2009), Thor: The Dark World, and Iron Man 3. Notably, he served as a CG Supervisor on the Marvel hits Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Vol. 3, where he managed global teams to bridge the gap between complex artistic vision and large-scale technical execution.

Following his pioneering work on Superman—where he spearheaded the first-ever integration of 4D Gaussian Splatting into a major feature film—he is currently lending his expertise to the upcoming Supergirl.

Aitor Echeveste | Visual Development Supervisor

Aitor Echeveste is Visual Development Supervisor at Framestore, where he works at the intersection of high-end compositing, machine learning technologies, and innovation in production pipelines. His international career includes studios such as Wētā FX, Rising Sun Pictures, and Cinesite, where he has worked on productions like Avatar: The Way of Water, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and several films in the Marvel universe.

In his current role, he focuses on integrating artificial intelligence tools into real-world production environments for advertising, TV series, and film, developing workflows that prioritize control, consistency, and integration with traditional VFX processes.

In addition to his work in production, Aitor develops tools, teaches advanced compositing courses, and actively explores how artificial intelligence is transforming the role of the artist in the industry.
