Award Nominations 2025
Whether you’re in the world for note-perfect witchiness, family-friendly character animation or something more… nerve-jangling, we had you covered in 2024, and we couldn’t be prouder to see our artists, producers and technologists recognised for their work. A huge “thank you!” to everyone who’s poured their talent and expertise into these projects.
Having worked on some of 2024’s biggest, most talked-about film and TV projects, Framestore is proud to start 2025 with three Visual Effects Society Award nominations for its work on Civil War and Fallout.
The work highlights Framestore’s talent for working with brilliant storytellers to craft compelling, immersive worlds, from the documentary-style realism of Civil War to the grittily violent and darkly comedic sci-fi of Fallout.
Framestore was nominated in the following categories:
- Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature - Civil War
- Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode - Fallout, The Head
- Outstanding Environment in a Photoreal Feature - Civil War (Washington DC environment)
Four very different Framestore projects - Wicked, Deadpool & Wolverine, Gladiator II and Civil War - have been shortlisted for the 2025 Best Visual Effects Oscar.
Showcasing everything from world-dominating fantasy, epic character animation, blockbuster superhero action and gritty, documentary-style realism, these projects highlight the breadth and depth of Framestore’s creative and technological expertise.

Congratulations to the team behind Wicked, whose VFX wizardry has landed them a BAFTA nomination for Best Special Visual Effects!
Our work was led by Visual Effects Supervisor and Creative Director Jonathan Fawkner. Working closely with the film’s Director, DOP, Production Designer and Production VFX Supervisor, Jonathan and his team helped to amplify the film’s sense of magic, working on epic environments and CG characters like Doctor Dillamond.
Framestore’s work also encompassed concept art, as well as previs and postvis courtesy of Framestore Pre-production Services (FPS).
We’re also incredibly proud of our team’s contributions to Deadpool & Wolverine, Gladiator II, Civil War, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice which were all named on the BAFTA Longlist for the same category.
Our work on Gladiator II has earned a nomination at the Annie Awards for Best Character Animation - Live Action ASIFA Hollywood is dedicated to championing the art of animation and its creators and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved. Our nominees are Kyle Dunlevy, Philipp Winterstein, Gil Daniel, Michael Elder, and Julien Bagory. Winners will be announced on February 8, 2025.
VFX Supervisor Jonathan Fawkner and the entire team on their nomination for Best Visual Effects at the Critics Choice Awards, recognizing their work in bringing Jon M. Chu’s grand and green Wicked to life.
