New AMPAS Members 2026
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited eight of Framestore’s leading creative artists to join its membership ranks, recognising their outstanding artistic contributions to the global film industry. This year’s intake includes two Academy Award nominees celebrated for their recent work on the high-profile feature F1, alongside multi-award-winning VFX and Animation Supervisors from across Framestore's global studio network in London, Melbourne, and Montreal who hold accolades from BAFTA, the Visual Effects Society (VES), and the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA).
VFX Supervisor Daniel Bethell, Melbourne
An accomplished supervisor whose technical and artistic career spans major high-profile features. A Visual Effects Society (VES) Award winner for his work on Mad Max: Fury Road, Bethell’s extensive credits include Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Thor: Love and Thunder, Mortal Kombat, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and The Lego Movie.
VFX Supervisor Nicolas Chevallier, Montreal
An Academy Award, BAFTA, and VES nominee, Chevallier has guided the visual effects on major studio features, including serving as VFX Supervisor on the Wizarding World installment Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. He is recognized in this year’s Academy intake as an Oscar nominee for his work on the high-profile feature F1. His extensive portfolio also includes key supervisor credits on The Fall Guy, Peter Pan & Wendy, and Flora & Ulysses.
Animation Supervisor, Pablo Grillo, London
Widely recognized for his leadership in character animation, Grillo has driven the animation direction for major franchises and acclaimed character-driven films. He is celebrated for his pivotal role in bringing highly complex digital characters to life, helping to define the performance, personality, and charm of the iconic Paddington bear, as well as the fan-favorite Niffler and the Hippogriff within the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts universes.
VFX Supervisor, Robert Harrington, London
Harrington’s portfolio covers complex episodic and feature productions, including Netflix’s The Sandman and three seasons of HBO’s His Dark Materials. He is recognized in this year’s Academy intake as an Oscar, BAFTA and VES nominee for his work on the high-octane feature F1.
VFX Supervisor, Christian Kaestner, Montreal
Kaestner brings a deep portfolio of high-end feature film expertise. His extensive past supervisor and artist credits include the Academy Award-winning Gravity, Ridley Scott's Gladiator II and Alien: Covenant, and the blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home. Most recently, he served as VFX Supervisor on the comedy-mystery The Sheep Detectives for Amazon MGM Studios.
VFX Supervisor, Andy Kind, London
A veteran supervisor and a BAFTA and VES nominee, Kind’s multi-decade career includes work across major cinematic universes, ranging from six Harry Potter films, Gravity, Children of Men, Guardians of the Galaxy and Paddington 1 and 2. He is currently serving as VFX Supervisor on the upcoming live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2 feature film, marking his second collaboration with director Dean DeBlois.
VFX Supervisor, Glenn Melenhorst, Melbourne
With 38 years of industry experience across 2D and 3D animation, Melenhorst’s career covers significant milestones in film and television. As part of the team behind HBO’s Game of Thrones episode “Battle of the Bastards,” he won Emmy, AACTA, HPA, and VES awards. His feature credits include the Oscar-nominated Christopher Robin, Ted and Ted 2, Jumanji: The Next Level (which earned an AACTA nomination), John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, and Ghostbusters.
VFX Supervisor, Joshua Simmonds, Melbourne
Simmonds is a multi-time AACTA Award winner whose career crosses studio blockbusters, auteur-driven films, and premium episodic content, including Elvis, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and Game of Thrones. His recent work includes supervising the complex body merging sequence of Together, alongside credits on The Sheep Detectives, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Candyman.
