Launchpad Competition
With the pandemic still affecting the way we work across the industry in 2021 we will be continuing with our virtual Launchpad Competition again this year to replace our usual Summer Internship programme

His House wins a BIFA
We want to share a huge congratulations to the winners of the craft categories for the BIFAs. Among those winners was our team, awarded the Best Effects award for their work on the unsettling Netflix horror film 'His House'.
Talking about the award win, our very own Pedro Sabrosa who was the film's overall VFX Supervisor said: 'It's amazing for our work to be recognised on a film which we were so creatively involved in. It was both a challenging and a rewarding project and the whole team is really proud.'

Announcing FUSE in THR
Last week Framestore Chief Creative Officer Tim Webber and VFX Supervisor Theo Jones spoke to The Hollywood Reporter’s Carolyn Giardina to announce our new project FUSE; the Framestore Unreal Shot Engine.
Unveiling details for the first time to the industry magazine and website, Tim and Theo spoke to Carolyn about a film that’s being produced under the year-plus long project which will be done entirely using a brand new VFX pipeline driven by Epic Game’s Unreal Engine.

The Midnight Sky Panel
Last week the Visual Effects Society hosted a panel on Netflix's The Midnight Sky, featuring Director George Clooney, VFX Supervisor Matt Kasmir & Framestore VFX Supervisor, Chris Lawrence. The group talked about creating digital faces, the use of LED panels and pre-vis, and how technology has changed over time. The full recording is currently available to watch on the VES Facebook page.

Flora & Ulysses
Say hello to our latest superhero.
Based on New York Times bestselling author Kate DiCamillo's children novel Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures, the film follows 10-year-old Flora (played by Matilda Lawler) and her journey in protecting her superhero CG squirrel named Ulysses.
Directed by Lena Khan (The Tiger Hunter) and produced by Academy Award nominee Gil Netter (Life of Pi, The Blind Side) the film is set to release on Disney+ February 19th.

Army of the Dead Trailer
Catch a first look into Zack Synder’s zombie heist movie Army Of The Dead, featuring some gruesome VFX by our team in Montreal.
Directed by Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead), the film follows a group of soldiers as they plot a heist on a Las Vegas casino during a zombie plague.

The Midnight Sky VFX
VFX Supervisor Chris Lawrence joins George Clooney and Production VFX Supervisor Matt Kasmir to talk about Framestore's work on the zero gravity death scene and more from George Clooney’s The Midnight Sky.

The Midnight Sky in The Hollywood Reporter
Based on the science-fiction novel by Lily Brooks-Dalton, a lone scientist in the Arctic races to contact a crew of astronauts returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe in the upcoming feature film The Midnight Sky.

VES Panel: VFX in 2021
Tune into Visual Effects Society's panel hosted by Foundry to discuss 'VFX in 2021: What Works, Who Works & What’s Changing Forever,' featuring Framestore Creative Director and VFX Supervisor, James Rogers.
During the discussion, James notes that “Change brings opportunity. [Thanks to remote working] now there is more of an appetite to embrace new techniques that can be part of the workflow and make you more efficient – a little icebreaker that 2020 provided."

BIFA Shortlist
We're thrilled that His House has been shortlisted for Best Effects at the 2020 BIFAs - the British Independent Film Awards - with VFX Supervisor Pedro Sabrosa sharing the nomination with special effects supervisor Stefano Pepin. The effects nomination is one of a whopping 16 overall nominations which include categories for director Remi Weekes and actress and actor Wunmi Mosako and Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù.
