Prehistoric Planet and Framestore in the Press

“The ice age megafauna has never felt so real” – 3DVF

Following the show's release, several publications have taken a deep dive into how Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age was created and what it took to bring this era to life. The coverage offers a detailed look at the collaboration between the BBC Studios Natural History Unit, the scientific team led by Dr. Darren Naish, showrunner Matthew Thompson and our own artists.

Hailed as “one of the most technically sophisticated natural-history series ever made,” the series has been critically acclaimed since its release and has received enthusiastic coverage from entertainment, consumer, trade and science media around the world. The Guardian called it “visually startling CGI-rendered natural history,” “ridiculously impressive,” and “beautifully realistic,” while New Scientist praised its “simply astounding” visuals, The Daily Telegraph described the season as “sheer awe.”, and Decider adding that “the graphics by Framestore are really well-done… as if it was shot in real time.”

Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age has been an epic journey of exploration for Framestore. With Production-Side VFX Supervisor Russell Dodgson guiding the way, our Art Department, VisDev, Pre-Production (FPS), and VFX teams across London, Montreal, and Mumbai have brought to life the spectacular inhabitants and habitats of the Ice Age.

Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age is now streaming on Apple TV.
