We're absolutely delighted to have been awarded our second Special Visual Effects Bafta, for Alfonso Cuarón's ground-breaking film Gravity. We're equally delighted for it to come as part of such a fantastic night for the film, with Alfonso winning Best Director, Emmanuel 'Chivo' Lubezki winning Best Cinematography (calling us nerds in his speech!) and Gravity also winning Outstanding British Film, Best Original Music and Best Sound.
We oversaw Gravity's visual effects, which make up around 80% of the film, with VFX Supervisor Tim Webber, CG Supervisor Chris Lawrence and Animation Supervisor David Shirk collecting the award alongside Special Effects Supervisor Neil Corbould and Executive Producer Nikki Penny.
Tim Webber said: "It has been a great year for film in general and the other films that were nominated (and many that weren't) were full of marvellous work, so to be awarded the Bafta for Best Special Visual Effects is a real privilege and honour. And, having been nominated for four Baftas but not won before, it is a very special personal moment for me. Gravity's success in so many other categories as well is fantastic and a testament to Alfonso's vision"
