Escape Studios' VFX Festival, the first of its kind in the UK and co-hosted here at Framestore, has received plenty of coverage ahead of opening on 10 October. The sold-out event will feature talks from Framestore on the Harry Potter series (10th October), Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (11th), and its best TV commercials (12th). We will also be taking part in the Q&A on 13 October. For more information please visit The VFX Festival website.
Both The Independent and technology magazine Wired have picked up on the significance of London's first VFX festival and the importance of the entire Soho VFX scene to the UK economy, with Framestore CEO Sir William Sargent telling Wired at the launch panel "I think we're seeing a cultural shift - for instance, George Osborne announced that the latest Tom Cruise film will generate 500 jobs. I don't think even a few years ago we would have seen a chancellor announce a new film, but it's now seen as an important part of the economy."
