Winter Olympic Games Closing Ceremony

Framestore created content for the 2018 Olympic Closing Ceremony over a 12-week schedule, delivering floor projections in 4K, and content for each of the 24 individual robotic LED screens that would move around the 72m stage, choreographed with 24 live performers. Framestore also completed all of the VFX work on the 90-second film that featured as part of the ceremony.

The project was directed by Zhang Yimou, director of Raise The Red Lantern, House of Flying Daggers, Hero, The Great Wall, and the Beijing 2008 Olympic Ceremonies. The content created drew heavily on Framestore’s design capacities, with the Design Studio working through hundreds of iterations of dozens of elements before looks were finalled.

Ratings estimate a television audience of 45 million viewers for the live ceremony.
