Framestore continues its longtime partnership with GEICO and The Martin Agency, placing the beloved Gecko into a series of unexpected scenarios, like scaling a Geckosaurus to 30 feet tall as he wanders the streets of suburbia, terrifying a couple with his shadow in the middle of the night, and bonding about… waffles.
Framestore Associate Creative Director, Will Frazier, has been animating the Gecko since 2008, and uses this experience to work closely with the creative team at The Martin Agency to bring these commercials to screen.
The Martin Agency is always looking for ways to push the Gecko into new situations and explore his character, so this campaign was no different. Putting him in so many new scenarios created a lot of fun challenges for animation and lighting to overcome.

The New York-based VFX team worked their magic on the Gecko rigging and animation using Maya, lighting and rendering using Houdini, and Nuke for compositing.
