I oversee all recruitment for the Film division at Framestore.

What are the attributes you look for in a candidate that are particularly suited to Framestore?

The ability to handle constructive criticism is really important. We're always pushing the quality bar as high as we can at Framestore, and to do that people have to be willing to receive critique on their work and to want to keep pushing it to be better. Being able to demonstrate your own self-reflection on your work is key at interview stage for us. In addition we're looking for, people who we feel would work well in a team environment, who can communicate effectively both up- and down-stream, and who are incredibly passionate and talented at what they do. So you know . . . not much!

What motivates you to get up and get to work in the morning?

The opportunity to feel like I can make a difference. A lot of my role now involves working with the wider industry on initiatives such as our VFX Apprenticeship Scheme or the NextGen Skills Academy, which are legacy projects that will hopefully make an ongoing difference to education and skills development for the VFX, gaming and animation industries. It's something I really enjoy, and gives me the opportunity to work with other talented and like-minded people, which is always a pleasure.

What's your one guilty pleasure?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - can't believe I just said that out loud though...

What has been your most memorable moment at Framestore?

Probably my first talent event which was FMX in Stuttgart. It was incredible to meet that much fresh talent in one place and see some really inspiring talks. Also the spaetzle!

What are the attributes you look for in a candidate that are particularly suited to Framestore?

Communication is crucial - you don't have to be the loudest person in the room, but you do have to be able to talk about your work and what you do with passion. One constant attribute we look for is the ability to take feedback and not take it personally.

What was your first job?

I was a kids entertainer and FOH at a zoo! I was the poor soul who had to dress up in giant animal costumes and entertain/scare children at birthday parties. Free cake & ice cream though, so every cloud!

When you're not recruiting, what are you doing?

I'm a huge foodie! I spend a lot of time exploring London, from trying niche pop-ups to hunting down the best buffalo wings (The Orange Buffalo, Brick Lane, FYI). I'm not the best cook myself but spend a lot of time baking then doing HIIT workouts to burn off all the cake!

What has been your most memorable moment at Framestore?

Sunset film screening at a Roman amphitheater built in the 1st century.

What was your first job?

Paperboy when I was 13, I'm very sorry to half the neighbourhood that never received their paper on a regular basis.

What are the attributes you look for in a candidate that are particularly suited to Framestore?

Flexibility, as our project styles vary considerably. Keen to learn, as we're often experimenting with new technologies/workflows and someone who can eat a lot of toast. We like toast.

What motivates you to get up and get to work in the morning?

Hangry cat, loud neighbors, being behind the scenes and being a part of that magic - even in the smallest of ways - is an amazing feeling.

When you're not recruiting, what are you doing?

All of the below  plus; exploring tiny London pubs, food markets and vintage fairs, learning guitar, crying at the gym, jazz & rock shows.

What's your one guilty pleasure?

Don't have one, don't feel guilty... spoonfuls of peanut butter, spare change pots on Monzo, fancy dress on the tube, toddlers falling over, becoming a prune in the bath, make believe apartment hunting & TOAST!

What are the attributes you look for in a candidate that are particularly suited to Framestore?

Obviously technical and artistic skills, but team-work and communication play such a big role in this industry. Everyone works collaboratively, so being able see that you would fit into a particular team is essential.

What was your first job?

I worked in a bridal shop, selling wedding dresses on a Saturday from the age of 14. I loved it!   

What motivates you to get up and get to work in the morning?

The people. I love who I work with - a great recruitment team and passionate, creative, talented artists. To be part of such amazing projects, supporting the teams I recruit for and helping individuals find a job they love is so rewarding.   

What's your one guilty pleasure?

Cheese! Anyone who knows me will be able to vouch for this. Mac and cheese, cheese fondue, cheese on bread, cheese and wine, cheese and fruit. Any and all, including the mouldy blue stuff!

What has been your most memorable moment at Framestore?
Has to be the work parties and social occasions - although I can't say they are my most memorable!!  

What is the most common mistake you see candidates making?
I have noticed a lot of emails come in from Graduates of media degrees or people who have a 'strong passion' for the media industry but are extremely vague in their descriptions for what they want to become within the industry, candidates need to do their RESEARCH and look up what department they want to get into, whether it be creative, VFX Artist, Producer, Director etc.

What was your first job?
Retail sales job in a department store - that being BHS

What motivates you to get up and get to work in the morning?
My colleagues, and seeing the work they do before anyone else!!

What's your one guilty pleasure?
Watching Police Interceptors and 'Can't pay? We'll take it away'  

When you're not recruiting, what are you doing?
Normally lying in bed watching Police Interceptors or some sort of national service documentary such as 'Ambulance' or '24 hours in A&E with my cat - but when I do get out of bed, I love cooking, attending Boogie Bounce classes and in the summer I'm never far from some sort of Festival or live music shindig.

What has been your most memorable moment at Framestore?

Since I joined the team remotely, I've not had my infinitive memorable moment yet. However, I am really looking forward to making some more great memories and having some drinks with teams after work -  when we're all back in the office together

What was your first job?

Growing up, I was a child actor, so my first job was a role on Grange Hill - wow I'm really showing my age now. 

What are the attributes you look for in a candidate that are particularly suited to Framestore?

Having a strong work ethic is what I always looked for as a Recruiter, so I carry this skill when I'm sourcing for my team and I also try to imagine what they would be like at the pub, at the end of the day with their team. You can teach skills, you can't teach personality. 

What motivates you to get up and get to work in the morning?

Knowing that I can make a difference to my team's daily work life. A Recruitment life is a hard life.

When you're not recruiting, what are you doing?

You can find me doing a few things, Playing my PS5, watching anime and running after my lockdown toddler. 

What's your one guilty pleasure?

Crosstown donut..... if you know, you know.

Animation, Lighting & Lookdev, Texture, Pipeline TD, ATD and Render team.

What's the best question you’ve been asked by a candidate? 

"What do you like most about Framestore?" because I get the chance to talk about all the great things that have happened since I started working here, and it's also fun to hear what our HODs have to say. It can be the start of an epic inside joke.

What are the attributes you look for in a candidate that is particularly suited to Framestore? 

A team player that is a good listener, creative and can take constructive feedback!

What motivates you to get up and get to work in the morning? 

Seeing my friends at work is the best.

What was your first job? 

I was a referee for my city football club.

When you're not recruiting, what are you doing? 

I love watching movies, playing on my PlayStation 4 or playing Dota 2, and when the weather is good : you can find me at a terrasse near the office.

Which areas of Framestore do you recruit for?

I recruit for the film division in Montreal and I oversee Compositing, CFX, Groom, Rigging, Modelling and the Render Wrangler and Data operations support roles. 

What has been your most memorable moment at Framestore?

When I met my colleagues in person for the first time in the park this summer.

What are the attributes you look for in a candidate that are particularly suited to Framestore?  

I look for someone who's passionate, hungry to learn and develop new skills and a team player.

What was your first job?

I worked as an office clerk for a custom broker/ freight forwarder in the logistics field.

When you're not recruiting, what are you doing?

I'm an advid music lover and started a vinyl collection a couple years ago which I really enjoy. When I'm looking to relax indoors, I watch movies, series and play video games. I also really enjoy getting away from the city on the weekend and going on hikes/walks outdoors.

FX, CFX, Rigging and Environments. 

What has been your most memorable moment at Framestore? 

Meeting my colleagues in Vancouver this summer. It was so fun yet strange to meet in-person after months of video chats. 

What are the attributes you look for in a candidate that are particularly suited to Framestore? 

Asides for technical and artistic skills we look for friendly, collaborate people who are happy to share their knowledge with others.  

What motivates you to get up and get to work in the morning? 

The reason I love recruitment is that I love meeting new people! I’ve met so many bright, kind and hilarious candidates who have genuinely made my day.  

When you're not recruiting, what are you doing? 

Plotting my next trip, spending time with friends and family, rollerblading, trying new restaurants, going to comedy shows and complaining about going to the gym.

Which areas of Framestore do you recruit for?

I recruit for the runner positions, receptionists and for the Launchpad Internship in Montreal. 

What's the best question you’ve been asked by a candidate?

To describe what made me want to join the Framestore team. What is our work culture like? I like when candidates are not only interested in the role, but also their work environment. 

What is the most common mistake you see candidates making?

Most candidates think there is only one good answer to our questions during an interview, and it makes them nervous. Be yourself and your strengths will shine through.  

What are the attributes you look for in a candidate that is particularly suited to Framestore?

I always look for someone that will fit in with the team and enjoy being part of it. They need to have a positive energy, be a team player, ready to work and learn. 

What motivates you to get up and get to work in the morning?

My team! We really have a great bond and energy. We laugh all day which makes the day go by very quickly.

What was your first job?

I was a cook and a waitress at a grilled cheese restaurant in Montreal. I worked with my best friend and my bosses were great! Even after two years of working there, I never got tired of a good grilled cheese.

When you're not recruiting, what are you doing?

I usually hang out with friends, watch a lot of movies and order A LOT of food. I have a passion for cooking and love being outdoors, except for bugs...I don't like bugs.

Which areas of Framestore do you recruit for?

I’m in charge of the recruitment for the Environment/DMP Department in Montreal.

What has been your most memorable moment at Framestore?

When I had the opportunity to go to the studio and attend an in-house shoot for our Launchpad Pro program. It was really fun to meet the team and see all the signed posters from the films we worked all over the walls !

What are the attributes you look for in a candidate that are particularly suited to Framestore?  

Someone who’s flexible, especially because our Environment/DMP team is generalist so we need someone able to jump on different steps of the built of an Environment. And also someone who’s not afraid to ask questions, as our HoD loves to say « We’re problem solvers » so we always need to ask question to find the best solution together !

What was your first job? 

I took care of two little guys every day after school for almost 1,5 years. Not really restful but I have to admit : they could be cute (10% of the time!).

When you're not recruiting, what are you doing?

I’m a yoga fan and I try to be as creative as possible ! I’m a part of an improvisation troupe and I attend live draw model sessions but most of the time you’ll find me on my couch, petting my little rabbit Kong.

Integrated Advertising: Los Angeles and Chicago, all departments.

What are the attributes you look for in a candidate that are particularly suited to Framestore?

We are always looking for candidates that have experience with photorealistic VFX; and in Integrated Advertising we love meeting candidates who are versatile and can take a bit more of a generalist approach, without losing quality in their work.

What was your first job?

My first real job was working as a server in a donut shop, Honey Dip Donuts in Columbus, Ohio. This was back when you could still smoke in restaurants, so I would come home smelling of a mix of sugar frosting and cigarettes! I never really looked at donuts the same way again.

What motivates you to get up and get to work in the morning?

I love solving the challenge of how we are going to find the team we need to deliver a particular project; it's also about connecting talented people with a job they have been dreaming of, as well as with a company that cares about its employees.

When you're not recruiting, what are you doing?

Cooking, trying new beers (my future husband is a brewer, I'm not just a drunk! Ha!), hanging with my cat, watching TV or films, trying to convince myself that I like exercise...
