Framestore has created a jazz-loving mole for RSA's Trevor Melvin, Scottish agency Storybook and Highland Spring water. The ad sees bucolic scenes interrupted by a fun-loving mole enjoying a natural jet of spring water before going on to use Highland Spring's various bottles to create a finale of hands-in-the-air jazz.
The mole's bottle blowing sequence was based on a human performance, with the actor filmed using bottles at the correct scale for a mole so as to provide animation reference. Charlie Bayliss led the mole's CG, ensuring groom and lighting worked perfectly, while India Barnardo and Steve Townrow created the animal's animation, as overseen by Mark Brocking. Simon Stoney was responsible for comping in Nuke. 2D artist, Tim Osborne, worked closely with Framestore colourist's to craft well-matched plates without compromising the client's brief of 'warm and wet'.
