Bourne's working life has always been based in the heart of Soho's multifaceted media world. A start as a sound projectionist at Malcolm Bristow Studios at the age of 19 fed his love for - and encyclopaedic knowledge of – movies. Five years on, after a brief stint projecting for 20th Century Fox and a year of travelling the globe, he returned to the fray, determined to involve himself more with the visual side of the media world.
Soon after that, Bourne embarked on his own TK career, which encompassed posts as a Junior Grader at MPC and Colourist at VTR. He has also made himself at home on a broad range of kit over the years, including Lustre, Baselight and Spirit.
At 2010's MVPA Awards, Simon received a nomination for Best Telecine in recognition of his grading on Plan B's Stay Too Long, directed by Daniel Wolfe. Simon and Daniel have had a long term collaboration and together they have crafted all the promos for the singles from Plan B's critically acclaimed album, The Defamation of Strickland Banks, which can be viewed here.
Simon won the 2011 Best Telecine Award at the UK Music Video Awards for his work on Plan B Love Goes Down. Simon had two nominations in the category, with the second shortlist being for another Plan B video The Recluse.
