Head of Nuke, Worldwide
Russell Dodgson entered the industry nine years ago after graduating with an MA in special effects. He freelanced as a compositor and spent several years working in Architectural Visualisation as well as directing and shooting VFX sequences. He brought a wealth of knowledge with him in 2009 when hired by Framestore to setup and lead the new Nuke compositing department, specialising in handling both fully CGI projects and CGI integration with live action plates. In 2013 he Russell was appointed Head of Nuke, Worldwide, to look after the department across Frametsore's advertising offices in London, New York and Los Angeles.
In addition to heading up the rapidly growing Nuke department here at Framestore, Russell works closely with Nuke developers; he is also a Professor for the online training course FXPHD and teaches international masterclasses for the foundry about Nuke. His main goal is to develop and streamline new workflows and approaches in order keep Framestore as a forerunner in utilising cutting-edge technology.
Notable recent work includes lead compositing on Galaxy Chauffeur, the Skyfall title sequence, Pepsi Crowd Surfing, Coca-Cola Siege, O2 Simplicity, Freesat Sheldon and The Tale of the Three Brothers from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
