Framestore recently created the BBC's Euro 2012 idents which in the end sadly played for longer than the England team at the tournament. The dramatic trailers saw the team's embroidered badges taken off the shirts and animated in a highly stylised, fabric-like manner.
Framestore's team worked hard during a very tight schedule to design thread textures that would look dynamic in a fast moving video, for example a wave deformer was added to the manes of England's three lions so the fabric seems to wrap itself and move around the contours of the models. Senior Designer Anthony Gibbs, who was the Art Director on the project, has given an interview to 3D World discussing how the idents were made.
