Skittles' strange brand of humour continues with another round of work with TBWA Chiat day. Skittles Plant takes place in a sunny backyard, where a mother (Beth Grant from Crazy Heart and No Country for Old Men) is harvesting candy from a Skittles tree - that is growing out of her son's belly. The weirdness of the situation reaches a climax when the mother tickles her dreamer son/tree and runs off with a wheelbarrow full of candy that's fallen off his branches.
Our job at Framestore was to make the prosthetic tree shot on set join to the son as seamlessly as possible. To augment the humour, extra candies were added falling from the branches and various live action plates combined. Directed by Guy Shelmerdine at Smuggler, Skittles Plant shows that humour and visual effects are a perfect paring."It was great to work with Guy once again. The performance he got from the talent was hilarious, the rest was easy," said executive producer James Razzall.
