VFX Framestore
Framestore creates a sneak preview into training methods for major NBA stars. These humourous spots feature some hot names from the world of NBA such as LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Greg Oden. From the perspective of a miniature tour bus we see these players as giant iconic figures going about their daily training routine. A combination of witty scripts and clever compositing bring these spots together seamlessly.
The challenge for Framestore was bringing all the elements together to make a believable composite. The bus was shot on HD in a huge green screen studio making sure the lighting and camera angles matched. The background plates came from real HD game footage. The NBA stars were shot when available which required the crew to travel all over the States, shooting in five cities over a month long period. Since everything needed to feel completely lifelike once all these passes were composited together, lead Flame artist Mindy Dubin added camera jitter for a handheld feel and an overall grain to the picture. A final tape to tape grade helped add the final look. Working within a condensed schedule the final spots illustrate a successful collaboration between Randy Krallman, Goodby Silverstein & Partners and Framestore bringing the best they can.
