HOME FOR THE HOLIDAY
Christmas is Waitrose's big spot for the holiday season. It presents a series of tableaux and scenes with the common thread of people travelling home to their loved ones at Christmas. Whether by car, bus, boat or helicopter, all of our travellers are focussed on thoughts of home, and shots of delicious festive food ready to welcome them are intercut with shots of their journeys. Directed by Stuart Rideout at RSA and created by Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy, Framestore added some digital polish and Telecine to Christmas's heart-warming message.
Flame work for the spot was by Pedro Sabrosa, who was able to enhance the atmosphere with some fog and smoke elements, as well as a little blue screen work and manipulation of some Chinook helicopter shots. Shot on 35mm, the spot was the first job to be processed via Framestore's new HD data grading system, and the telecine work by Senior Colourist Dave Ludlam was aimed at enhancing and complementing Christmas's warm, rich seasonal mood.
