Tesco F&F 'Projection'

If the weather wasn't reminder enough of the change in season, Red Brick Road's spot for Tesco's F&F clothing range throws autumn leaves, snow and rain at us in the form of nostalgically projected backgrounds. Directed by Dawn Shadforth, the commercial sees a model going for an autumn walk, throwing snowballs and dodging the rain while showcasing F&F's A/W range. But the autumnal backgrounds are all projections in the halcyon style of a 1950s movie. Framestore's task was to rotoscope the model, by hand, from bluescreen and then convincingly composite her on top of the weather backgrounds without compromising the ad's heroes – the clothes. The spot was made fashion-ready with a suitably stylish grade from Framestore's Stefan Perry.
