Framestore has been getting flashbacks to wet family holidays for Halfords’ latest TV ad from DLKW Lowe and Hungryman. The spot sees a stoically enthusiastic father take his family on an ill advised bike trip through lugubrious English countryside. But their rickety old bikes aren’t quite up to the job. Cut to the toddler’s trailer railing off in the wrong direction.
Tim Greenwood led the team of rotoscope artists that was responsible for removing all the rigs and wires that helped pull the bikes apart at the right moments. The 2D team also brought the bike breaking scenes to life with additional sparks and used split screen to create the perfect action comps. The toddler’s monkey lip-synched the strapline with help from Framestore’s other Tim, Mr Osbourne. Steffan Perry finished off the production with a family-friendly grade.
