Barclays Offset Mortgage 'Hourglass'

Framestore has again teamed up with Outsider’s Dom & Nic and BBH to create the latest instalment in Barclays’ One Small Step campaign. To promote the banks offset mortgage, we see a woman in charge of a giant sand-timer hourglass, placed slap-bang in the middle of what has become the campaign’s trademark minimalist setting.

Framestore’s CG team, led by Jabed Khan, created the hourglass and some of its sand. Then it was over to Framestore’s longtime Dom & Nic collaborator, Ben Cronin (freshly returned from Framestore’s New York office), to perfect the spot with set extension and clean-up. Chris Redding worked alongside Ben to ensure the sand and glass colour were consistent, whilst convincingly sitting the hourglass into its frame.

“The shoot was a great ‘welcome back’ to Blighty,” comments Ben. “Being on set with my good friends Dom and Nic, and a such a familiar crew, felt like the perfect homecoming. The only problem was when we had to pause for a couple of hours whilst the fire department put out a fire in the Horticultural society where we were shooting!”
