Barclays 'Performance'

How do you make a pile of money perform to the best of its ability? Put it in a Barclays ISA. Or, prod it with a stick to goad it into singing Annie's, 'Tomorrow’. That's what happens in BBH's latest spot for the bank, as directed by Blink's Simon Willow. But the answer to 'how do you make a pile of money sing' is less simple. The solution is to use some excellent puppeteers and some post production wizardry from Framestore.

The Muppet-like character was captured in-camera as a puppet directed by two controllers dressed in orange body-stockings. Framestore's task was to painstakingly remove all evidence of the puppeteers and transform the flat studio setting into a live audience atmosphere worthy of Saturday night entertainment. This was achieved by applying auditorium style lighting, compositing in a live studio lighting rig and compositing a crowd into the foreground for a theatre ambience.
